I am going for ACETAL as it is a noun, whereas I think ACETYL is an adjective.

I put acetyl at first but decided I needed a noun not an adjecive so have changed to acetal. Have I just added to the confusion?

It shouldn't be acetyl as it should always be connected with another word, as in acetyl chloride. So acetal must be correct.
