letter from the p;olice !!!

i couldnt believe it i got in from work on friday opened the post and there was a ;letter from the police saying our car was involved in a accident in bristol area on the 23rd of december !!!!! even though i dropped hubby work for 6 30 and i drove myself to work for 7 and the car was parked in the car park till i fifnished work at 5 i rang them and they said write a letter saying we werent in bristol . and they will take it from there scary !!!! i tried to look up what accident it was on www.thisisbristol.,co.uk on the news but couldnt find anything strange !!

It sounds like your car may have been cloned.
Just in case this is some sort of scam I would take the letter to your local police station as soon as possible and ask them to verify that it is a legitimate letter from them.

Might be an idea too to check if where you parked it had any CCTV of it to prove your car couldn't be anywhere else. A guy at work has his number cloned and was facing congestion charge fines but because we had CCTV at work, he was able to prove it wasn't his car involved.

yer i have spoken to work and they might have sum it depends if there cctv was recording at the time !!!! will wait and see what i get back after sending the letter off just saying we werent in bristol and take it from there

Don't worry too much as you have witnesses to say where you were etc. My other half had a penalty charge for driving in a bus lane in London while he was in work in south Wales - they sent us a photo as proof, trouble was the photo was of a fiesta and he has a toyota camry! He didn't have to pay!
