A six digit number starts with a 1. If I move the 1 to the other end, the resulting number is treble the original. What is the original number?

With the help of Excel I got 142857 and 428571. I don't know why it relates but 1/7 = 0.142857... so there could be a snazzy fast way to work it out.
Let your number be 100 000 + x (where x is a 5 digit number).
The second number will be 10x + 1
So 10x + 1 = 3(100 000 + x)
multiply out brackets
10x + 1 = 300 000 + 3x
7x = 299 999
x = 42857
Therefore the first number is 142857
