The Victorian Literary Studies Archive Concordance produced the following answers

Shakespeare 128673 Total Lines
Wordsworth 64956
Milton ( major works only) 18293

I appreciate that these figures do not match those of the question but I suspect that there may be differences in the definition of a line between the Concordance and The Daily Mail `s authority .

Thank you for your prompt answer. I wondered if the word
'poet' was significant in the question? Shakespeare was
more of a playwright than a poet and Milton wrote a vast amount of poetry? However, I am grateful for your answer, thank you and here's hoping you have a very happy New Year
