What is going on? So far nobody has given any clues or explained what is happening and my paper won't be here for a while.

Now I have my paper all becomes clear. We have to give another line to the 4 carols. The clues today being the first line - the clue is the the first few words and the answer the remainder of that line.
My guesses are:-

Though the frost was cruel.
Christ is born in Bethlehem.
The silent stars go by.
Moor and mountain.

Hi all, and thanks Strix for transferring the text over for me - not that my thread has in any way made this morning's game any easier - as I won't be seeing the Crossword at all I have no idea what I'll be trying to match with what, which bodes well for scoring on Monday !!!!
