Just wanted to say a quick hello and thank you to all that posted answers to my question on 26/11.
So I guess i'd better update you on the situation.

Basically, we went out on the Friday night as arranged and she said all the right things and actually paid for the meal without being prompted or anything. We had a nice evening, and we were making plans for an evening on Sunday with her friends.
So all was good with the world again

Then Sunday evening came around.....
The 6 of us all met up in the evening. We went to a nice all-in-one bar/restaurant and dance club.

The evening went on nicely and we were all eating and drinking well (and running up the tab). And hitting the dance floor halfway throught the night she takes me back to the table (the others were still dancing) and says that the others don't have good jobs or much money and because we all were eating and drinking well she felt bad asking them to share the bill so asked if I would pick up the whole tab??!!
I agreed, and told her to get back on the dance floor and enjoy herself she did, and I stayed at the table and finished the bottle of wine. When she wasn't looking I just walked out, stopping at the bar on my way through to point her out to them and explained that I had to leave, but she would be picking up the tab at the end of the night, but could they also please send over to the table (and open) 2 bottles of champagne.
I've not seen her since, and decided to ignore her numerous calls and texts.

Even though my friends told me that this woman seemed like this, it was nice to see that you all agreed too. Also with all your help, I have been able to see that not all women out there are like this. Obviously I'm single again now (and do miss her a little), but will definitely be more careful when getting involved with people in the future.

So thank you to you all!!

Matt

OMG!!!

Absolutely brilliant!! Good for you :o)
oooh cruel lol
Just because I'm a nosy moo, what did her texts say? Was she aware of the reason you walked?
so what changed between the friday and the sunday??? How dare she say you have to pay for your friends, if she felt that bad that they didnt have good jobs then she should have offered. Not that your friends couldnt afford it. Well done you anyway
oh yes, im nosy like lakitu, but didnt want to ask!

go on, what did she say?
HER friends, 4get! PMSL!
Any chance of a link to the original post please? x
Good move, well executed!
Thanks Panic x
Good Boy !!
What an absolutely brilliant way of giving her the message.

Glad you got out with your feelings (and wallet) mainly intact!!!
Well done st-tropez, there are lots of other lovely, polite ladies out there waiting xx
HER friends!! My god thats even worse
Well done Matt, what a cheeky cow!! Women can be such scroungers. I'm wary of the ones who hang around until you buy them a drink and then disappear.

Ha ha .. Wow I've not really been on answerbank before, but got recommended to it. .it's just like having a whole new network of friends!! (sorry, im not a great on-line person and only just learning about it all!!

So, to answer some stuff:
The friends were hers, and this was the first time i had ever met them!!

Her texts basically started off that evening, with where was I.
They then went to abusive stuff ( I assume the bill came up then)
and finally grovelling for me to come back as they didn't have enough money to pay for it all.

Most of the rest since that night have I just deleted without reading them (same with answerphone messages), but when with them, my friends have taken it upon them to read them out loud to me (thanks guys!!)
Basically, she has gone from hatting me, to saying she doesn't understand things and then yesterday and today how much she misses me!

I miss her too, but i'm sorry you just don't do this kind of thing.
And what were her friends thinking? - You don't go to the supermarket, put all your stuff on the checkout counter, and then turn around to a total stranger and say i don't have a good job so can't afford my food will you please pay??!!

So basically at the moment, I think I'm best off without her (or her friends) in my life. So I guess, look out for me more on the internet!!

Welcome to AB :o)

Even though you miss her, you really are better off without her, but you know that already.

Hmmm, I might try out that supermarket scenario, I'll let you know how I get on ;o)
I wonder how the bill was paid in the end.

She must have told her friends you would pay before even talking to you about it before they didn't have enough money. I mean, I wouldn't go to a restaurant without money unless I knew beforehand that I was not paying.......
they didnt have enough money. Well serves them right for ordering stuff they couldnt afford. Although did they have to pay for yours too? ha ha good
As I said before this mirrors what happened to my friend, except she came knocking on his door a few times after he dumped her. He didn't bother to answer.
