Recommended food allowance

Hi, I know it's recommended that you eat at least five portions of fruit and veg a day, but is there anything else that is recommended that you eat a certain amount of each day?

When you look at a packet of anything you buy you'll see RDA alongside vitamins, minerals, protein etc these are the recommended daily amounts of such. I don't understand it really as everybody needs different amounts as all depends on lifestyle.
It is recommended that you also eat a large portion of chocolate ! (I wish ;o) )
