On yesterdays breakfast tv there was a piece that showed scary masks being sold at woolworths for Halloween called something like "scary old pensioners" or the like. The debate was whether they were offensive to the elderly. What I am most concerned about is when did the Uk become so interested in this horrible "trick or treating" when it is obviously not a UK custom. Also the masks that were shown were all portraying white people,
No Black or ethnic people why. Do they not grow old and wrinkly!

Many children in England, particularly 'ooop north' celebrated 'mischief night' by dressing up and knocking on doors for 'soul cakes' - no cake, and a trick was played, It still happens.
I despise the racket that is Hallow'een - an ancient pagan festival has been turned into a cheap money-spinning jolly-up for kids.

If anyone sends me a 'Happy Halloween' card it will go in the bin!

It should be banned - along with 'Bonfire Night'.
I loooooove halloween...Its simply MAGICAL for kids..I remember running about thinking I was a witch with my pumpking & going to wee parties when I was little. Its fun!

So someone jumped on the band wagon to make a small profit out of halloween and suddenly everyone goes nuts...Only the temperamental and hyper sensitive would find this offensive. Its morally wrong but not something to go awol about!

Halloweens for kids! Its fun!
Nothing wrong with people"oop North" Ethel!!!!!!!!
It was the film E.T. that started the British mimicking the American Trick or Treat tradition.

Remeber - kids are kids and we should let them enjoy themselves - let them have some fun.

I dont call it fun seymourbush when eggs are thrown at your door. Which happened to me one night after I refused to answer my door. But of course we live in a blameless society and Kids must be Kids and never chastised.
