Could anybody explain to me why my searches never find any recent questions? Not even the ones I have posted myself.
For instance, I just now searched on "inquisitor" (because that is the puzzle I'm stuck on at the moment) and the first query shown was about inquisitor 74. But I know there have been more recent ones than that. Is there some way of sorting the search results that I haven't found?
I would really, really like to be able to default to "site" searches,, too!

I cannot get the search function to work either. Like you I have 'searched' for questions that I have posted only to get either 'no relevvany questions found' or a load of ancient questions.
I just go through the pages manually now. It's a real pain.
Also hate it when I forget to click on the 'site' button and get even more garbage.

The new editor sounds as if he wants to overhaul the whole site and get the technical side of it sorted. I have already e-mailed him about the search function and asked him to set the default to site ( not web). I've also mentioned the the inability to go back more than 10 pages.

Perhaps if enough people let him know what they think needs putting right it might be dealt with sooner.

Thanks, guys. It's a relief to know that I am not the only one and there is not some childishly simple tweak that I have missed. This is such a brilliant site otherwise (with so many nice helpful people!).
I noticed this as well.

Sometimes I find previous answers from the site by copying and pasting questions into Google Advanced Search.
I combine Google searches such as:
site:www.theanswerbank.co.uk "inquisitor 91" Quizzes-and-Puzzles
which generally delivers the situation up to at least "yesterday", with browsing the first few pages of questions.
