My son's just enrolled on a BTEC National Diploma Sports course - 2yrs and eqiv to 3 A-Levels at the end. However, he didn't get the required grade in English but because other grades were good they are happy to take him on the course providing he re-takes his Eng. He can enrol at same college for a one afternoon a week but it means him missing the non-timetabled free afternoon where all the rest of his BTEC students do team activities and practical work individually or in groups. I'm not sure I want him to miss that as it is a sports course and I don't want him disadvantaged in any way. I'm looking at the DCA or ICS courses - what you you think? I work from home so am here to chivvy him along and he's really enthusiastic to do well cos he knows he let himself down a bit with his GCSE's.

My grade in English wasn't good, so I enrolled on a night school course after work one night a week. Might be worth him doing something similar?
