I've been sending in the Mail on Sunday prize crossword for the last 8 years every week without fail (except when on holiday). Not a sniff!! Has anyone out there won or knows of anyone who actually has?

You're still a novice then. I've been doing both the MOS and SE crosswords since they began and I've not had a sniff. I once read someone on here who reckoned he's won 4 times, but I don't believe it, unless he has a remote postcode and is the only one in the area to do the crosswords.
Never mind, it's all good for the mind, as long as you don't resort to this site too often.
I am glad you asked, I often wonder that as I have been doing it for years too. I did win a football kit for my son and his team and a years free soap powder back in the early 90's in one of their comps.
Also how come no-one from the south east ever wins. Am the only one down here that enters.
I won 25 from the YOU crossword many years ago and like you i have been doing all three from the MOS for about 6 years.
I'd like to say thank you to all the people who ask the questions as i can usually find my answers from the postings.
An extra THANK YOU to the clever folks who submit the answers too.
I live in hope.
Mr Chrysaor recently received a cheque for 100 from the Sunday Express. As we were away and didn't get the paper we were unable to see his name printed and we're not sure what competition it was for - most likely the smaller crossword or it could have been the Giles cartoon (we occasionally send that in). It's a bit odd there was no indication with the letter.
I feel better now, knowing that there are other desperate would be winners out there! The wife and I spend hours on this and other Sunday newspaper crosswords and never get a sniff eith
hi everyone i too have been doing these crosswords and sending them off for years. have won twice on daily mail 20. better than nothing. and yes miss skippy people down south do enter, crossyfan from fareham sends off nine on sunday and two every day of the week. lets hope well all have some luck soon x crossyfan
I feel better now, knowing that there are other desperate would be winners out there! The wife and I spend hours on this and other Sunday newspaper crosswords and never get a sniff either
(sorry, typo error)
Never won the big one but did win 25 for YOU mag a few weeks ago. Also won 1000 in the Sunday Express a year ago or so. Call me lucky! Keep playing, you might win one day. Thanks for all the help everyone!
Given that they probably receive in excess of 20000 entries a time your chances of winning in 8 years are not high, alas.
Couldn't agree with you more miss skippy. If I did win then I don't think the winnings would even cover the stamps I've used! My mother and I have both send in 4 crosswords every sunday for 10 years and have commented that it's never anyone in the south east that wins!

This all makes me feel a lot better. I thought I was the only one who hadn't won. Incidentally, no-one ever seems to win in Nottingham either! Well, I'll keep at it (like thelottery) and keep everyting crossed! You wait, I'll probably win this week!!!
I also have been doing thses crosswords for almost twenty years without a win. However if you don't send them then you'll never win.
In seven years, I've won one runners-up prize from the You Crossword. Luckily it was for no. 1000, so they boosted the prize money that week.
yes i have won it once but it took about six years of trying .stick at it.
yes i won 1500 care of the mos crossword
Thanks for the blogg have done all three since they started and have only won 25.00 on the you crossword and then lost the cheque
well you win some, lose some,
thats life
I won the Daily Express, that was a surprise since I
had on done the Tuesday one once, they did state
the date of the comp which was good because the
cheque did not arrive until 6 weeks later and I had
forgotten about it.
A relative of mine in Sligo, R.O.I. won 2,000 Euro
in I.M.O.S. (same crossword as in M.O.S.

hope jaynethepain you are a winner soon.
Well we are keeping the Royal Mail in a job
I did the S/express since the mid 1960s. People used my library to look up answers and I got hooked then. Still do it but ,since I discovered AB, only just for fun. The entries must have doubled since those early days.I think the postage over all 40 years must add up to more than the prize. I did win runner up for You magazine but don't send in any now.
what ive often wondered, is how many actually post their entries?is it about 30,000 a week?
I have won The Hampshire Chronicle GK four times (25 apiece), the Sunday Telegraph GK once (15 worth of book tokens), and was a runner-up on the Saturday Telegraph GK last year (won a small reference book).
