This week the AnswerBank have teamed up with Octopus Publishing and we have 5 copies of their latest book to give away!
The Top 10 for Men is the perfect gift for any general knowledge buff, featuring 250 lists on all subjects, ranging from fast cars to beer brands...

For your chance to win your very own copy of "Top 10 for Men". All you have to do is email us with the answers to the following questions

1. What is the most common phobia in the UK?
2. What is the top confectionary brand in the UK?
3.  The last person to ever be beheaded in Britain was carried out in which year?

We still have 3 books to give away, so we decided to extend the competition to 10 June 2008.
Winners will be selected at random and contacted via email.

Good Luck!

While you are there Ed, may I draw your attention to the many genuine concerns that users have regarding this site.

Lack of a working search facility
Lack of a 'Report this Answer' button
Lack of moderation
Lack of control over usernames
. . . . etc
The list goes on.

These points have been raised frequently in 'Suggestions' and elsewhere. Also by email. And never a response.

Throwing in a *prize* competition without addressing these issues is hardly going to settle the natives.
Well done, gen 2.
I second all your comments
Hear, hear! Thank you gen2 for putting our concerns so succinctly. At least their posting proves that someone is there!
I totally agree with gen2's comments.

Just telling us who you are would be great as nowhere on the site are there any details to identify you.
Do you take any notice of emails sent you?
Could you perhaps edit out certain quiz questions like Quizmail, GFQ GBQ AND questions that have been asked before? Ad nauseum!
And look closely at your spelling!!

confectionAry???? it has an "e" in my dictionary!
I couldn't agree more, gen2. I love this site, but it's getting more and more infuriating not being able to use the search facility, not being able to go back more than 10 pages and waiting ages for pages to load.

Editor, PLEASE take notice of us.

BJ
I would agree with all previous postings. It is infuriating to have to wait several minutes after selecting each item, before it appears on the screen.
Like others I can only echo what gen2 has stated, and why have you made this thread sticky?
-- answer removed --
Yes macpark! A confectionary is where confectionery is sold.
Can I echo all of the above and add the 'My Profile' function to look at 'threads I'm involve with' it quite often doesn't work these days.
This native is certainly not settled. I agree with with the views expressed above, without reservation.
I agree with all the above. Do you care what happens to this site? Each day I get more reluctant to attempt to use it and, as you can see, I am not alone!
I suspect it is a victim of its own success.
It might be a good idea to delecte every question over 6 months old - which might make the site smaller and more manageable.
Yes, I'm afraid I have to jump on this bandwagon, too. This site is so good, when it's 'on song', but so frustrating when it's out of sorts. Can we have some sort of response, please?
I agree wholeheartedly with gen2's comments. Surely you can spare a few minutes to give us a reply?
Er, any room for another unsettled native?

I've nothing to add, but then gen2 has said it all, and expressed my concerns perfectly.

BTW, Q3 is ungrammatical.
4candles I was having problems wi the wording of question 3 but you could argue that having been beheaded, the body of the person was carried out.

"For your chance to win your very own copy of "Top 10 for Men" FULL STOP

All you have to do etc..." I know we all make mistakes but come on, a capital A is used so it is intended to be two sentences.

Walks away, shaking his head
The closing date is 2 June, winners will be selected at random and contacted via email.

It's not even a sentence!

Let's face it , Corbyloon, the whole post is a travesty of the English language.

[Rant over] Sorry about that folks - do carry on...
