Think I've finished it, but don't really understand some answers if they're right. Advice welcome:

a) 17d Generosity of Scottish capital mentioned (8) - I have 'Largesse' as in 'Largs' and 'ese' - no idea where the 'ese' comes from in the clue if it's right.

b) 24ac Old property (8) - I have 'Agedness' What's that got to do with property?

c) 25ax Pincers be located in pairs (6) - I have 'Pliers' but don't know why apart from the fact that it fits and they're pincers - can 'piers' mean 'pairs'?

Maybe they're all completely wrong and I just need some whisky. Actually, I think I'll have one anyway. Nighty night folks.

17d Largesse - sounds like ('mentioned') "Large S" (capital letter)
24a Agedness - a property of being old
25a P-lie-rs - lie = 'be' + p(ai)rs
PS Make mine a double please...

Corks. That was quick. Thank Mr King. I'll raise a glass to you (although still not sure why 'be' translates to 'lie' - mind you it is nearly midnight and I'm a numbskull).
