I will soon be visiting someone I know in India and need advice on what to take for his daughters. They have been brought up in an enlightened yet traditional Hindu home in rural Rajasthan and are in their early twenties and educated. They have asked me to bring them something that is only suitable for girls - I suspect this is to ensure the males don't purloin it. Any suggestions for sensible item(s) neither bulky, heavy or expensive and not frivolous either ?

I hope my ideas dont seem frivolous but what about some nice beads or a bag from accessorize (are you in the UK?). They have a lovely selection of costume jewellery and beautiful bags with beading or embroidery.
