1d (1 denarius, or 1 pence/penny) = 2 1/4 US cents ($0.54 by today's inflation rates)

6d would have been about 13 1/2 cents, equivalent to $3.00 today.

OR in UK = approx 1.50
NHi RodMac- I'm not sure what US cents has to do with sixpences.

There is an inflation calculator on the following site:http://img.thisismoney.co.uk/calculators/calcP riceInflate.html
Not sure if link worked before. Answer was just over 2.21 in 2006 so around 2.30 today .

That's just an overall average, of course.

Prices of different items will have gone up at vastly different rates in the last 107 years.

And lots of items that are used to calculate the retail prices index today did not even exist in 1900.
