I was travelling on the motorway in September 2005 in the filter lane to come off ant next junction and was hit from behind by a lorry. The claim is still outstanding. Is there a site where it states the default rules about who is at fault when such an accident occurs? The other party initially didnt want any blame, but then proposed a 50/50 settlement, which for the obvious reasons I am still refusing to accept as I was totally NOT at fault. Can anyone help. Is there a specific website that answers insurance questions?

What is your insurance company doing? If there was no real personal injury it should be straight forward and settled by now.

If you are claiming personal injury 5 years or more is not uncommon.
We would need more information as to the events immediately prior to the collision - e.g were you in the filter lane for a while or is the other side claiming that you changed lanes into their path .

There is no one answer that fits all in these cases - it all depends on the accident circumstances , and whether or not the other party is disputing liability / What you are claimaing for - and also how robust your representatives are in pursuing the matter .

It appears that liability is being disputed , given that they have offered a 50/50
