If it is a cut tree you can easily cut off the lower branches and then cut back the trunk. If it is a real tree in a pot then there is not much you can do.
Hey Wonder,

What I usually do is to find a corner to fit it into and then remove a large amount of the tree from the back so that it can be pushed right against the wall. That way you can't see the bits that have been cut.

Or you can always move some furniture out of the room that it's going in.

I always have a real tree, I love the smell, will be getting a small one this year.

I agree BJB - they smell lovely don't they? Unless you've got anywhere to plant them afterwards though, I think it's a shame to have real trees just to throw them out after Christmas, so we now have a fake one. Got a brilliant bargain at the beginning of the year. A large DIY store was selling 12ft. ones for 50 in their sale, so that's going up outside. You can get some very realistic ones now, so course, when the event's over, you just pack them up and put them away for another year, which saves money, but I think it's really a case of which you prefer. I'm looking forward to decorating ours!
