Has anyone noticed of the paper today? As the prizes go down, the prices go up!

I can't say I have because my local shop usually only gets in a couple of copies of the Telegraph and they'd sold out by 8.30 this morning, grrr.

My shopkeeper had not noticed and asked for 70p as usual. I had to point it out, so now I feel like a saint!

Aww, that's good of you. I always do the same if it's a local shop but if it was Tesco........hmmm.

Coming out of a supermarket in Wales, I noticed that a had been given change for �20, instead of �10. Like a fool, I went back and said to the cash-out girl "This is not right"

Her reply was unhesitating "There's nothing I can do about it once you've left the till".

Well, what would you have done?

Don't start me off:!
The eggs bacon and butter Mr.S fetched back with the DT this morning had also gone up.
We only buy it on a Saturday and Monday now and read it on line the rest of the week.I only buy the ST when they have the puzzle supplement once a month.
If you think about it and you buy it every day for a year that's 208 quid a year ! And that's just for the DT ..Monday to Friday. without taking the weekend papers into the equation.
I am not tight fisted but when you live on a fixed income it's a lot of dosh ! I could have a week in the sun for that sort of money !

It works out a bit cheaper if you pay quarterly by direct debit. It also means you don't notice when it goes up.

I get the DT on their voucher scheme which means I get a whole weeks papers for the price of approx one weekday paper plus Sunday's. However I had noticed that today's had gone up in price and feeling slightly smug as I had bought my vouchers in advance then went next door to the newsagent's to the baker to buy some bread. Hubris, nemesis. My small granary loaf had gone up from one quid to �1.10! Thus are the mighty brought low.

i get my flour delivered from local mill bread maker set it up next morning nice fresh loaf i can 500gram loaf counting electric for 70p it is well worth it pays for paper!! cheers T
