Arrgh! It was only a few months ago it fell from 500 to 250.

Given that it costs 17.68 to post it off annually by first class post. it hardly seems worthwhile entering!
Hadn't noticed. Thanks for drawing attention to it. Hardly worth the expense of a 1st class stamp each week. They shouldn't be hard up as the cost of the paper went up a few weeks ago, again.
Perhaps we should all include a note of protest with our Herculis entries! Can someone please tell me the answer to 30 down? Sharp pointed stick for driving cattle G ? I ? I thought it was prod until someone mentioned GURU for 30 across.
30 d is goad.
I did see the prize money and thought that it had reduced. You would think that the Telegraph wouldn't be so petty about the prize but I suppose many standards are dropping.
P.S
For 30d I did put GURU
Sorry, no, I did put GOAD after reviewing.
Many thanks for GOAD, I spelt barnacle incorrectly.

Good idea Cheshunt - I'll add a note to my entry saying it could well be the last time I enter!
I wonder if it's a printing mistake and someone has left out the "2" by mistake. Has anyone noticed that the last four Sunday Express Magazine 1000 crossword have all had the same puzzle number?
don't think it is worth adding a note as they only open 1 until thye get a correct crossword. Really do not think they open all the entries. So the chance of them seeing mine is as remote as winning

I have sent them an email - will let you know if I get a reply.
I suppose we are all having to pay for Conrad Black's excesses; it's either that or one less executive lunch for the Torygraph editor per week.
In a similar vein, the three Sunday Telegraph crosswords now each have only one prize per week. That has been the case for about year now, certainly with EV.
I usually send this crossword off each week but in view of the Telegraphs meaness will no longer be sending off.
