Many thanks for that... I put Le Marseillaise rather than La - which got me into a total pickle. All the best.
Can you give a hint to the theme, please. I have a couple of anthems and 'Ding Dong Bell', but can't see a connection !

I don't have the crossword in front of me, but all the unclueds refer to 1812 overture - some relate to bells, some to cannons (e.g. great gun) - and some to parts of the overture - eg La Marseillaise, God Save the Tsar...

Yes it does, thanks Lou, but I still have one thematic to get, and can't decide which 'set' it belongs to:

7d: S_KER (I suppose it could be Z_KER depending on the spelling of TSAR/TZAR/CSAR/CZAR)
