Earthakitten. I think these are the only 10-lettered countries in Asia.
Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan & Uzbekistan. None of them is an obvious answer to your question. Is it cryptic or factual? Perhaps someone else has some ideas.

Hi kettledrum ... we seem to be on the same path, I also have Azerbaijan but as yet have no ideas !!

Sarumite - I think you're probably right - certainly for this purpose. My Whitaker's Almanac 2000 lists Azerbaijan as being in Euriope, and on checking in Wikipedia it says it's located in the Caucasus region of Eurasia, the crossroads of Eastern Europe & Western Asia.

Thanks everyone for your input. Mixture of clues but a lot of them are cryptic. 24. I did read as more factual as there were no ? or ! but who knows.
