It appears to be an anagram. I cannot find it in Chambers.

If ALBURNOUS is a word - this would seem to fit the bill.
Have you any letters in? Could it be alburnum?
You are right logogriph. Alburnum is sapwood.

Alburnous is right = anag of a soul around burn
And alburnous is the adjective from it.

alburnous is correct. I could not get away from the anagram including poor. This is my first request in Answerbank. I'm impressed!.
