My combi boiler will centrally heat my home but the hot water is not hot any more. It gets warmer only when the heating has just started to get going and then the hot water becomes very tepid and then runs cold. I used to be able to get away with having the heating on specifically in order to get some hot water for a bath etc but now this is not possible, because the water is no where near hot enough for anything. I know there are numerous things like diverters etc but I am wondering if something very simply like perhaps a fuse that needs replacing (if there is such a thing in this boiler?????) which may be the casue as opposed to something major and expensive. I have read so much about other peoples problems with their boilers, but I cannot find out about mine. Although the switch is set for hot water and heating, the green light is not lit for the hot water when I put a tap on, it seems like it is not firing up for the hot water. It is either Ace High or High Ace from Halstead, can never get it right!

Sorry to say but these Halstead boilers' are a real pain in the butt. Not very reliable !!!
Any-how there is a small glass fuse inside the boiler on the main PCB.
You need to cut the power lift the front off and gain access to the electrical unit by lifting the cover and simply change the fuse. If this does not work then it probaly needs a new PCB. probably cost you around 240 for this. I have had to change the PCB on 4 Halstead boilers just last year alone.
But you should get it checked out if it is not the fuse. As it could be just the thermistor about 65 to replace and a very common fault, though from you're description it does not sound like the thermistor, More like a PCB problem.
