It's just occurred to me that a better answer (than DRAINPIPE TROUSERS) might be POLYTHENE TROUSERS? Hope I'm not too late!

I know that I am not too late to say to all my AB-pals, that I feel that I have really got to know you this year, what a great bunch - and you deserve the best in the coming year. May you never have to deal with "cross words" except those with clues (preferably cryptic).

I wish you a Magnificient, Merry and Memorable Christmas and a Healthy, Happy and Hearty New Year.

ulysses100 I have never seen anyone settle in so quickly. You took to AB like a duck to water! I remember asking if you had Greek origins!

MissBoots I know your sister "Bossy"! Yes I got your message - Good luck with your "Drainpipes". If the setter was a Teddyboy in the 60's, you'll be OK!

As for razza I doubt if you know what drainpipes were my young friend! I'll keep an eye open for you in 2007.

Aquagility Always doing your own thing! You need a Minder. You got yourself into the Doghouse - You'll find a way to get yourself out! If you're still there in a few days I'll send in the A-Team (or the AB-Team)!

jan I thought you were going to be red hot at the Links Game with 3 points in the first round in November. I recall you pipping me at the post with a new Link Word on more than one occasion.
Am I correct in saying that you had the big "Five O" last year? Belated Congratulations!

Ah Shaneystar2 In my view, the Queen of AB-land. Her skills are awesome, her patience infinite and her help invaluable. Long May She Reign!

Methinks the Red Wine is taking hold!
Polyester trousers galore to you crofter .
Thanks to you and everyone who has made my first three weeks on this site so enjoyable.
Have an equally magnificient Christmas and New Year.
Oooh I say Crofter ..Flattery will get you everywhere !!
Slinte mhath!
To sort of go back to the question,it's got to be drainpipes-I can't remember anyone wearing polythene!! And drainpipes are made of plastic.
Whatever, I wish you and yours all the best for Christmas and New year
lol
Barbara
yes 50 last January nearly ready for the next one! Many thanks for the belated though. yes I did get 3 in the first week but it was all down hill from there.
cheers jan
Here's wishing you a very Merry Christmas too crofter and all the best for 2007.

No doubt our paths will cross soon, I've lots of quizzes I'm going to need help with over the next few weeks :-)
Crofter, seasonal greetings and salutations from your junior partner in crime, who is currently experiencing withdrawal symptoms, owing to the loss of the ABers weekly links extravaganza.

Many thanks for making this diversion such a thoroughly enjoyable interlude, by offering your analytical expertise which greatly enhanced the end result for us participants.

I trust that your Christmas and New Year break meets or exceeds all expectations!

Best wishes (S) ☺☺☺
Cheers crofter.I put drainpipe trousers as well, thats my age showing too,but I.m not too bothered really. So glad I found this site and realised pretty quickly that there some VERY brainy people about.Merry Christmas to all the names that have been so helpful to me and every one.My first great grand child was due last Monday so it's anyone's guess when she(we think)will make her appearance.Happy New Year to all ABers.

Let's deal first with the trousers of rogerr aka barbara . My jeans had 12" bottoms when I was 16 -and I am starting to regret my reference to polythene trousers (only 6 hits on the web). Like Prince John's jewels, it'll all come out in that stretch of water not far from you!

Slaney You'll soon wonder how you managed to compete before AB. There's a great bunch out there all ready to lend a hand!

If there's one person who had the magic touch with Herculis, it was Magyar who couldn't stop scoring until December kicked in! More fun to come in 2007.

As for my good buddy sarumite , I too went into a three-day low last week. Without his help the weekly event could not have worked! Who knows what the future holds.

To patchett & little patch , hold on to your memories of drainpipes, sideburns, beetlecrushers, DA's and forget about my polythene trousers!
Try hits for polyester trousers.

Crofter...I don't know how you do it!....you have given me many a chuckle this year...your wit matches your intellect!...I won't say how!!???!!
All the very best to you and yours over this festive period!...have a great time...and look forward to your continued 'performances' in the New Year!
Any replacement for the Herculis challenge in mind yet???
P.S. All the best Crofter.....anagram of .....foretells 'berth' act!....quite fitting for Christmas!

If the answer comes up as Polyester Trousers, I shall claim a moral victory and send thanks out to slaney who spotted what I really meant to say.

As for the sense of humour pauline , I've always seen it as a powerful weapon to break down social barriers. However, it must be used with care as it can sometimes offend. It is essential to draw up a line beyond which I should not go! Nevertheless, these last few weeks I have noticed a kindred spirit on AB who will boldly go where no anagram has gone before!
