I'd love to get this one wrapped up before all the newspaper Christmas quizzes start next weekend but I'm struggling on two of them - can anybody give me any hints? I've got (or at least I HOPE I've got) all the other answers if anyone is stuck.

6. What links Farndale, Pickering and Trafford?

I think it must be something to do with either surnames or street names as two are villages and one is a Metropolitan Authority so there's little they can have in common in the place name sense)

16. Japan = 4
South Africa?
India?
Republic of Korea?

Thanks for any help you can give.

For Q6 look in the education section. Q16 I haven't a clue.

In return can you please point me in the right direction for any of 3,4, 12, 13, 15, 17 or 18?

Thanks.

Thanks to your help I've got no 6 now - still completely stuck on 16. I've been trying to find everything that Japan has 4 of - islands is the obvious answer but doesn't produce an answer for the other 3. It also has 4 dialling codes for the UK and members of its lower house of Parliament are eleccted for 4 years - any thoughts on whether either of those is a likely candidate?

I'm not 100% certain of my answer to 3 but it relates to Protection of Species - have a look and see if you agree.

4 - try Police Authorities

12. I reckon there is a typo here and the 60 should be a 6 which would make the percentages add up to 100. If I'm right, head in the direction of Panama.

13. you'll find the answer in the London section.

15. the energy section

17. time, measurement and calendars

18. theatre

I don't like to be more specific in case I spoil it for anybody else, but get back to me if you need bigger hints.

Me again!

Did you find a specific page refernce for no5 ?
Sorry, my last request should have ended with Q20, not 18 which I have. Many thanks for all those hints - I now have the will to persevere. I agree with you about Q5 - surely there can't be a specific page - it must be the whole section, unless there's a preamble somewhere in Whitakers explaining why those have been chosen.
Question Author
20 is connected with parlimentary by-elections.

Just off to read it from cover to cover again in the search for no16 - I'll come back to this thread if i get it.
Brilliant - many thanks.
Do you think there's a mis-print in Q15 as well - I found 102.9???

I think Q3 is a bit peculiar as well - very odd to give the middle names of the "things" don't you think - I had previously dismissed that section for that very reason.Pity they don't have a query line!
Question Author
15 isn't a typo - try looking at page 460.

As for no3, they've had questions about middle names of 'things' in the past, I think there was one last year.

Still struggling on 16 but I think it may be to do with the length of term members of the lower houses of their parliaments are elected for.
Thanks - back to the book!
Can you give any more clues for Q6, like the page number? Or even a page in the vicinity of the answer. We are going blind looking for it!!!
Question Author
Try the Independent Schools section
Thankyou so much, we have the answer now!!!
Do you have any more hints for Q13?
Forget that, we have Q13. Could you help on Q5, 12 and 19? Please.
Can anybody confirm that Q14 is a trick question ?

Hints for Q17 & 19 pls

Q17 Look in the time, measurement and calendars section. We are stuck on Q19 too!
Q17 solved TNX

I'm afraid for q19 you need to go through all the countries indivudually. Look in the "Climate and terrain" sections of each.

Can nobody at all help with no16?

I can't relate Q4 to Police Authorities. Isn't it related to first names ?
