According to Chambers "Nie" is an obsolete spelling of Nigh.
I have put "Nye" which is a variant of Nid or Nide meaning a pheasant's nest (from latin Nidus .. nest).

Did you notice that the solution given for last week's heraldic question was GYRON without any option?
........... must admit that I seldom check solutions, mainly because I have forgotten the pattern of my entries by time they are published. Probably another sign of advancing years !
