Are you sure about the spelling of the last name? I did a search for you and couldn't find that word at all - only found Fortunee.

thanks BBWCHATT me to, i can,t find anything at all to do with auphante. don,t even know if its male or female.who ever it is there is a literary character based on her. this is only one of a load all on the same subject!

I read somewhere that Fortunee Auphante was the real-life murderess who was the basis for Emile Zola's Therese Raquin of the same novel. Haven't been able to verify it myself anywhere, though.
