what to plant in my allotment now

I've got an allotment, and last year was ill and didn't manage to plant much for spring... can anyone suggest anything I can plant now? Is it too late for rocket, etc? I'd like to plant garlic also. I'm in central scotland. Thanks!

Hi elpea, you won't find much to plant in September, but as you have an allotment, you might find this site useful.

'Wintering' lettuce (Arctic King, I think it's called). I've just got a late row of kohn rabi started. Winter cabbage can be started now. Unless you get really bad frosts, spinach will keep growing (albeit slowly) through the winter.

Garlic is traditionally planted on the longest day (Dec 21st) but its ok to plant now.
You can sow leek seed and the plant out individually when ready. They overwinter well.
Try planting spinach and pak choi. Both grow quickly and will soon return results.

that's great - thanks. I put in some spinach a couple of days ago, and think I'll do a test with the garlic, so I'll do some now, and some when you recommend and see what happens.
