bridgenut - wonderful, I've been going round in circles even looking through their membership handbook!

Mancunian - again I'm going dizzy so it sounds fine to me, thanks.

Much appreciated.

to ageing fast

thanks for verification.
8. I'd found the same site bridgenut refers to but I think that is the number of properties they look after, as opposed to actually owning. I've been trying to borrow a copy of the Members handbook as that's supposed to have the details but you've obviously found that it doesn't. The only other information I've found is a reference in an encyclopaedia to them owning about 300 properties in 1995. It's have a guess time!
In the Wikipedia Encyclopedia it lists by name 280 properties in England. Do we have to add to it all the properties in Ireland, Scotland , Jersy etc.

juliefer and Mancunian - I agree, it's really confusing especially if you regard land holdings as property (they look after or own lots of coastline and a large part of the lake district for example). As you say, its time for an educated guess and as I just want to finish it I think I'll put 444, the total of bridgenut's answer. I think National Trust for Scotland is a separate organisation.
Just got 2 to do now and I then I can .... move on to another quiz! I must be obsessed lol
Yes, you're right Ternigapp. The National Trust for Scotland is a separate body - at least I've learnt that much by doing this quiz!
To Ternigapp and Julifer

I also have learnt something,in fact doing this quiz quite a lot. Think its a case of think of a number and !!!!!!!! it would have helped if they had stated in England, still they say approx. Good luck to you both.
