3 = Cheshire ? As in 'grin like a Cheshire cat'
3: Cheshire?

Sorry, I don't have a definitive answer to your towns, but perhaps 'grin like one' is one of the many towns suffixed '
......mouth.
Best I can come up with is Widemouth, but this is only a bay to my knowledge, or alternatively Plymouth. Neither is likely to be the solution but possibly another avenue to explore..........?
The question asks for Towns or Cities not Counties like
Cheshire.
Fair point K. These have me stumped! I put Sink into AA route planner and it didn't recognise it, same for Basin.

Good luck, Dividimus, will keep thinking in the background.

Yes Kaya, hence my question mark. But any better suggestion?
Quizmonkey. At the moment I don't have a suggestion.

It was just that Dividimus in his posted question two below this one specifically stated that Cheshire, as a county, was not a consideration. Cheers K
could 1. be Folkestone

I think 1 may start with FO (Foe is Enemy)

Coast may be Beach or Bank, or Glide (as in coasting)

Not sure where Ahead fits in (far?)

But I cannot find any town like Fobank or Focoast or Foglide

Forfar ?
Folkestone is on the coast though
As it includes Irish towns and cities

2 could be Waterford although I do not like it.

If it is, a better clue would be Good place to wash the car.
Dividimus, I would find it helpful if you wrote up 5 or so other clues, and their solutions, to give an idea of how the setter's mind works, i.e. how literal the clues are. Thanks.
1 - Enemy Coast Ahead is classic book by Guy Gibson of Dambusters fame - can't find anything yet from that, but possibly Lancaster as outside guess???
