Safety laws on childrens clothing

My grand-daughter has just had her first baby a little girl. I was horrified when she showed me various items of clothing including a shawl which had been trimmed with bows made of silver ribbon with two or three six-inch ropes of pearls hanging from them. These pearls were also attached to the baby's bootees. These items were not bought in a shop but from a private individual who specialises in decorating cribs and car-seats etc. I try not to be the nagging great granny but I feel that if these items had been sold in a shop they would never have passed the laws on safety. I would appreciate your comments as I think she feels I am worrying unnecessarily.

I agree...some people dont realise how easy it is for children to choke on small parts..it may look nice..and well decorated but is that really something you would risk your childs life for...[sorry to be dramatic]

No you're not being a nagging granny, babies first developmental learning in this world is the oral stage they put things in their mouths to discover what they are, be it feet, hands or any other object, get rid of the pearls now! 3 cheers for grandma!
