23d Belonging to the tea family of plants (9) .........
I have - H-A-E-U-.
Have tried theaceae but cannot find suitable variant.
I should be able to find 13a but maybe i'm having one of those days??

thanks to you both, yes I have now 'unearthed' the thuja!
I think we may need the Tippex! It's possibly tsuga for the trees of the cypress family.
I am sure13a is thuja (cupressaceae family - pronounced "thuya" ), not tsuga which is pinaceae family and is also called Western Hemlock (see Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
