Too early for me bob. I was still in the shower at 07.46! Method of solution given below:
If Jill has �X and Jack has �Y, then ... 2X = Y
After borrowing, we would have 1.5 ( X + 1 ) = Y - 1
Eliminating Y, we get ... !.5 ( X + 1) = 2X - 1
which when doubled gives ... 3 ( X + 1 ) = 4X - 2
This has solution X = 5 (so Y = 10) as Trojanfarce rightly states.
