L - A - S - N, so presumably LIAISON which = romance, but how does the wordplay work?

I puzzled over this one but eventually went for


The girl is Alison a single is I and L is in the van (Lead)


L I AISON


Do you agree or are you working on another construction? K

I should have said that L is obviously left and taken out of Alison and put in the van (Head/Lead) at the start of the word liaison

Thanks, K, I think that works. I don't think I'd have spotted that in a month of Sundays!
Doh! - got it easily enough, but didn't get much further than the L in working out why... thanks all
