my mum's recently opened a shop. does anyone know what the restrictions are on her playing the radio or CDs in her shop?

she needs a ppl (public performance license) i think. Needs to talk to council?

In addition to the PPL a PRS Licence will be required. (performing rights society) licence, but contact the council or business advisor first.

I dont know where you are but assuming its the UK, if you phone your local council and ask to speak to a licensing officer they deal with everything and tell you exactly what you need and in my experience they have always been very helpful.
My friend owns a chip shop and was done for something along these lines if theres more than 7 people in the shop you need a license to play music.
