Is it true that the village of Royston Vasey in the League of Gentlemen tv programme is the real name of comedian Chubby Brown? if so, why the connection

Indeed it is! It says so in the L.o.G DVD.
Just to add to that, Roy 'Chubby' Brown is in one of the episodes in the first series as the Mayor, and i take it they must be big fans of his.
but isn't it also true that the comedian Boothby Grafoe is named from a village in Lincolnshire? - yes it is.
I think they used his name simply because they heard it and thought it was a good name for their dysfunctional village. Nothing more to it than that.
