I have a 12 week old staffy pup, we have had her for 4 weeks now and the toilet training is not going well. she is left in the kitchen at night where she has a lovely warm bed and a tiled floor. we have put paper by the back door which she goes on but in the day time she goes wherever she wants to in the house including the living room carpet, any advice anyone! we put her in the garden regularly too where she will relieve herself but still wees on the carpet when she comes in!

Right well when we got our first dog years ago the vet told us too allow the dog in one room only no where else in the house we thought he was wrong we didn't listen and we had bad time, the next time we done what he suggested she wasn't allowed in any other room except the kitchen,if she used to do her stuff on the floor she would get picked up and put outside then we would clean up when she couldn't see then when she came back in she would be put in the kitchen again, thing is it worked and we've done it ever since, didn't take that long either she wanted to get in with us.

thanks zara 4, its what we have been told also but how do you cope with the crying and howling? shes been allowed in with us when we are in for 4 weeks now, I think she will get distressed if we start locking her in the kitchen! I feel I would be being cruel!

Oh she cried and she howled,we didn't blank her we allowed her to sit on our laps in living room but were told that as soon as she attempted to get off that we should either return her to kitchen or put her out for wee,as for the crying they are cunning little beggars they know just how to work you,by not giving in every time she cries she will realise that when she don't do nothing wrong she gets cuddles and the living room, she will suss that out Very Quickly.
