I have two answers in this crossword which don't fit together.

[14D] Former name of Tuvalu (6,7) I've put Ellice Islands. [20A] Isle off the Iveragh peninsula; terminus of the first transatlantic telegraph cable (8) I think this is Valentia. Unforunately the T in Valentia does is in the same square as the C in Ellice.

Should it be Valencia? I thought that was a completely different place, or is it one of these alt sp clues?

Tuvalu was also known as the Lagoon Islands.

Thanks Shaneystar, I tried that but then I get Valenoia for the isle. he letters I've got are _ A _ E _ C _ A
Google also gives Valencia for the 20A so this must be an alternative spelling and would fit with your letters.
