Mrs Dales Diary was about that time. Her famous line being "I'm worried about Jim". Jim being Dr Dale.

Mrs. Dale's Diary was post war and the Archers have just celebrated fifty years of broadcasting.

But over in America, Amos 'n Andy started in 1928 on radio and ran for many years. No village is mentioned, but the location of their residence is just named as a street in a southern State.
