The consensus last week seemed to be that Hippolyta was correct but I see in this week's answers that the Tel have given Hippolyte. Would they have accepted Hippolyta?

doubt it they dont usually deviate from their own answers,not like the Express which will accept alternatives
sorry if i confused matters by suggesting the boring pedantic correct answer, but i did scrape a classics degree a long time ago. unfortunately the dtgk setter can be a bit of a crown and anchor now and again... and again (qv passim)

No, don't apologise mike b - I think you were right. My Collins English Dictionary also gives Hippolyta with Hippolyte as an alternative.
