We have bought another horse and it needs a proper name (horses have nicknames and show names). Any ideas? Nothing like "gone in a flash" as race horses have rubbish names like that! lol

I suggested Nimrod, Inferno and Vulcan, as he is a chestnut but Fidget is also the sort of thing we are looking for.

Two names I love and always thought they would be great for a horse are Scipio - Roman general, or Mistral - the wind.that blows across southern France.
I think JAY is a lovely name for a horse..
Conker (as he is a chestnut horse - as opposed to a horse chestnut)
I like it, Altosruleok! But if he is a chestnut horse instead of a horse chestnut, shouldn't he be named REKNOC?

Personally, I think all horses should be called TO ACCOUNT.

Either that or something really imaginative, like DOBBIN.

I think dobbin was a mule, wasn't he?

Great ideas people, except the the conker spelt backwards! lol

We were thinking along the lines of a "double barrelled" name like, midnight dancer (the name of one of our other horses).

I appreciate your input :o)

Cal

My sporting passion is horse racing. Should I ever be fortunate enough to buy my own horse, I would name him / her after my user-name.
Brandy Butter.
Oh a double-barrelled name, Caladon; why didn't you say earlier?
OK, then how about Conker-tree, William the conker, Mars-Bar (red planet), Betel-Nut, Mahogany-Joe (don't know why Joe - it just seemed a good idea at the time)
why not moonlight serenade you've already got midnight dancer moonlight serenade would go nice

I attend horse shows, i always liked Blaize... however that isn't double barrelled...

By the way i think Brandy Butter is the best so far... or maybe... Brandy Blaize (joining mine to it! ha ha)

Double barrel, but I'm still going with a couple of wind names.

Santa Ana.

Sirocco. Great name even though it's just the one.

Ginger Nut. One of my aunts had an enormous chestnut with this name

Question Author

Wow, some great suggestions!

Brandy Butter is very good! His nickname is Billy but its the show name we are looking for. I think Brandy Blaize is a bit of a mouth full. Try saying it 5 times fast lol But still a good suggestion.

Did you mean Scirocco, as in the wind? I like that too! Will run them past my sister tomorrow (shes 13).

I should have offered a prize lol

Appreciate the continued help!

Scarlet Ferrari

Red Adair

Ginger Minger

Fire Cracker

Flaming Nora

Sweet William

The Bill

Bilbo Baggins

Please can someone stop me before I go off the end of the computer........ sorry, used to picking dogs names.

Question Author

LOL i like the red addair, but i doubt people will know who he is, in the uk!

But i do like fire cracker. isn't tacky or race horsy lol

Blaizing inferno (spelling deliberate)

Shepherds delight (a red sky)

Dawn raider (also a red sky)

I live in the UK and I know who Red Adair is but do you need to get permission if you use the name of a living person?

Bronze Adonis (if he is really handsome)

Whiskey Mac (Mac for Short)
Fiery Chariot?

GINGER MINGER that was brilliant, (lol) i was thinking of Smarty, loopy, tibbles, my sister called hers Molly!!!
