The current Chief Constable appears to be Mike Craik, although he took up the post in April 2005 so is not "new". However, he is referred to as Chief Constable in a Northumbria Police report of 30th December 2005, so still seems to be in that role - see http://ww2.northumbria.police.uk/ePolicing/web/wms.nsf/N ewsReleaseContentDocs/NWS013641?OpenDocument
