is there anywhere that shows drawings of what actual pirates actually looked like?

I know they were a figure of mystery so often artists just made them up, especially if for cigarette cards or something, but I'd have thought maybe when they were caught there may have been likenesses made.

Of the famous ones i mean.
like 'official portraits'

I've looked at loads & theyre often totally different people all claiming to be of the same one.

I saw one of a pirate who is well known to have hanged around age 38 & its got him with white tufty hair, whereas others he has long dark hair.

so are there any confirmed images? like a specific resource perhaps?

Im just wanting to see what they 'actually' looked like
i know a lot of the drawings of the time are just a bit badly drawn by todays standards, so you'd not really have any idea what someone really looked like from them anyway.

thanks :)

Most of the pirates in the so-called 'golden age' of piracy, would have been long dead by the time the first cameras were invented. However, the Royal Maritime ar Greenwich has some contemporary drawings and paintings. Not sure how to find them on their website, but here's a place to start: https://www.rmg.co.uk/stories/topics/famous-pirates
