green?
Rose- (rosie lea-tea)?
A Hackney Cab is a black taxi!
Black tea?
generally it's one word, so black could be it..
I think that the clue is referring to Cockney rhyming slang.
maybe,
Will have to wait until Satprof comes back.
indeed..
Or rosy/ Rosie??
Question Author
I like the rhyming slang route, but nothing is obvious at the moment. The given letter is P, which doesn't help and I can't find any 5-letter grid positions.

I'm trying out 'rose' & 'rosy' to see if either works.
it would be rosie Lee if rhyming slang.
I'd go with rose
but of course roses come in different colours!
they do. I could only think of Green tea and Hackney Green....
Ttt will know but I think they often shorten rosy Lee to just 'rosy'
correct spelling if its rhyming is rosie...
But the clue is COLOUR of tea, so answer should be ROSE, rose being a colour.
so danny should get the gong if rose is right.
Question Author
Rosy is working out fine.

I think dannie should get the gong but someone looking for the answer should be able to find 'rosy' as such. That's not to detract from bobbin's effort, so he gets it this time.

To locate 'rosy' I guessed that the no. 5 in corner positions could be Y, which turned out to be correct. 17 might have been the O but the 17 before the adjacent double P word can't be O. (There's no word that is -OPP-Y.) Hence I tried 26 as O & everything started to work.
Definitely ROSY as in rosy lee. 2nd down 3,26,12,5
