price of a pint
We don't have an old style "local" in walking distance.
Diabetes Type 2. Because alcohol interferes with the body's blood sugar levels, it is recommended that those with diabetes drink just two pints per day. I used to drink 3 or 4 pints an hour. One of the reasons i got Type 2 in the first place:-/
nothing except a crippling knee problem, i like a nice local and we have one around 15 minutes walk away, that's 300 years old and a very good place to hang around in summer, as they have lots of space outside to sup a few beers.
Noisy, flashing slot machines, pool tables, and grime.
true, none of which our local has,
Yes grimes so 2015 isnt Naomi. Should be drill now
Price of the pint. Our local we used to sup regularly in and is a 'chimneys' boozer is a ridiculous price unless you want to have Greene King IPA. We no longer go.

Agree also with Naomi, thats why I like 'Spoons. None of that and a good price for a decent pint.
In answer to the OP, I think the pub can also have a bearing. Take for instance some of the flat roofers, forbidding before you even get to the door let alone the punters.
What's a 'flat roofer'?
Thanks, ymb. I've never heard of that.
Not taking cash only taking cards
I never got into the habit in the first place because of them being full of cigarette smoke.
Big televisions showing football matches.
Youngsters
Children....
No real ale
Pretentious menus
If it's a pub that I know, or know about, it can indeed be the people in a pub that put me off going there. However I occasionally have to research unknown pubs for lunch with a veggie friend when visiting a town that I don't know well. Possibilities tend to get crossed straight off my list if they've only got a Facebook page, rather than a proper website.

Trying to track down a current menu, and to see how well the pub caters for vegetarians, is usually impossible on a Facebook page but dead easy on a website. (There are even pubs, with only a Facebook page, who set it up so that one has to be logged into Facebook in order to view it, thus losing potential trade from people who simply don't 'do' Facebook at all).

Away from that though, other things that might put me off venturing into a strange pub are massive signs about their multiple big screen TVs, with listings of all forthcoming big matches, and similarly big signs declaring the venue to be a 'sports bar'. The dreaded word 'karaoke', seen on a sign outside a pub, tends not to tempt me in either!

The people, any people.
Recently ? Having to give trace details. And any other Covid impositions that existed. Now, probably a lack of folk wanting to join me since my usual drinking buddies were genuinely vulnerable and still nervous. Or simply out of the habit and "sitting" on plenty of supermarket booze at their home.
