I brought some suede over the knee boots from Office that were 110. However the first time I wore them I found that they kept falling down to my ankle!! This was slightly annoying as I had to keep bending down every 30 seconds to pull them up!! As you can imagine I really don't want to be doing this!!

I took them back to the shop four days later and was told by the manager that as they were rouched they were supposed to do this, despite the fact that they are being advertised as over the knee???!!! I wasn't even asked to put them on to demonstrate the problem!!

They have now been sent off for "Head Office Analysis" but I think i am going to be fobbed off. Does anyone know what my rights are on this??? I would have excepted a credit note but after they way I was treated i would prefer a full refund.

Please help as I would like to be wearing some new boots on Xmas day!

Thanks

H x

P.S. I don't even have skinny legs!!!

Tehy are obviously not "fit for purpose" as needs to be under the Sales of Goods and Services Act, and hence you are fully entitlerd to a refund.

If the head office comes back with a negative, I suggest you explain this and that as soon as you leave the shop you will be going to trading standards.

I think I just need to stand my ground!

Just as a matter of interest (a retail perspective) the retailer is entitled to see whether or not the boots are faulty now that they have been worn and this is what they are doing by sending them off to their head office - how long did you wear them for before you took them back?

I wore them for one day and one night!

Definitely stand your ground, and also take someone with you for moral support (preferably someone who wont jump in and cause a row, but who will back you up calmly and firmly).

I had a problem with a leather coat - the back outside seam went, I took it to the shop who said they would send it off to be repaired (a day after I'd bought it!). Trading Standards had told me that I could, by rights, ask for a refund. When I told them this they gave me a new coat, which was not defective. So if they offer you new boots, and they have the same problem, get your dosh back and go elsewhere.
