NACW - It's not wrong, it's very well worked out.

There are five possible positions for 'outre' (or perhaps outré) but the correct one starts with a doubled letter (O).The whole puzzle then falls out, so long as you know the word 'ormolu'.

Thanks, Satprof. I enjoyed the working out, but am used to more elegant definitions of 'outre', 'freaky' seems a bit of a stretch!
