Almost 28 years ago since he died...

Amazing when you think about isn't it.
Wow... such a shame and such a great singer. I really wish I had seen them live, but he died while I was at school still and I just didn't appreciate them then.
In just a few weeks it will be the FORTIETH anniversary of the murder of John Lennon.
One of my favourites, since I was about 4....

Dad could've got me tickets for Wembley 96 magic tour but at 14 I was deemed too young to travel to London with my mates, but was promised I'd be allowed to see them on their next tour :-(

I have seen Roger Taylor and Brian May a few times since but never the great man himself.

Happy Birthday Freddie, if only you had still BEEN with us :o)
The "what-might-have-been" discussions are always interesting. I have no doubt that Queen would have continued to make music together, though probably not quite so regularly as they did in the past. In many ways, they had nothing left to achieve. A wonderful band who had made some fantastic albums, played to millions all over the world. Perhaps Freddie would have made an album with Montserrat Caballé - who can say - but I bet it would have been wonderful!
He had so much more to give, such a sad loss.

Birthday memories x
But there would have been no Adam Lambert.

Swings and er...swings.
Agreed, Lynne. Some of his vocals on Innuendo are just stunning! The title track itself is as good as anything they did in the 70s.
Adam Lambert is amazing. Obviously, he doesn't try to be Freddie, and nobody could be, but I liked him much more than I expected.
He is still with us. He is immortalised by his music. In 1973, I was given the first Queen album by a friend and I accidentally played side 2 first. Listening through my headphones on high, I was immediately blown away by the opening bars of 'Liar'. And so began a long lasting love affair. One that will never die.
Royfromaus; I know music, like comedy, is subjective, but the best thing I can say about Lambert is that he is marginally better than Rodgers. And I wouldn't pay to see either.
Question Author
I like Adam Lambert even though he is OTT in his own way and not trying to emulate Freddie. Although a few good songs on 'The Cosmos Rocks' that I like, I was never overly keen on Paul Rodgers.

Pixies Link, good call Xx :

Totally agree, Ken. Queen should have been laid to rest when Freddy died.
Loved him and sent a red rose to his funeral. I still remember hearing his death announced and the shock of it :o(
Totally agree, Roy. The least they could have done was to have released new material with their 'new' front men - a la Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Genesis, etc, etc. I have much, much more respect for John Deacon than i do for Brian May and Roger Taylor.
Question Author
They did Ken that's what 'The Cosmos Rocks' is. So you think they should've just ignored all their own songs written in the Queen catalog.
