Scam? Or Not

My gmail account is linked to my hotmail/outlook account. I've just received a message on gmail that my hotmail "credentials are needed", and to sign in. Yet I can still access emails on both.

It's not an actual email. It appears as a box above my email listings with a "!" before the message.

I’ve recently had the same, pasta, and just ignored it as I believe it to be a scam of some kind.
And guess what, the sky didn’t fall in ;)
