A few years ago a colleafue brought a sheet to work that had clues such as;

7D in a W

12M in a Y

The idea was to decifer the letter - 7 Days in a Week and 12 Months in a Year.

Does anybody know if this type of quiz has a name?

or could anybody provide a link please?

These are called ditloids.
And if you search back through the pages on this site you will find hundreds of them - not a day goes by without someone posting some.

Yes - there have been so many of them that some of the new ones are getting rather stupid. You can have anything now ie. 8 = TES (8 o'clock = time Eastenders starts!)

long live ditloids
Just as a matter of absolutely no interest whatsoever the name ditloid came from the first ditloid ever, which was:

a ditloid by AS

a day in the life of ivan denisovich by Alexander Solzenhitsin
..wow coyn!.. I never knew that, and it's one of my fave books....
